House en-suite
Renovation of a rowhouse in Amstelveen (NL)

Re-arrangement of a 30’s row house with smart, colourful objects.
With this internal upgrade, we made a modern day interpretation of an old feature: the en-suite. The old, non-descript living room with kitchen annex is now divided by the new kitchen cabinets in the heart of the ground floor. Thereby forming two clear living spaces, one for dining and one for relaxing. At the dining area, the cabinets surround the main toilet, but also has a hidden door to the storage basement. All cabinets are painted in a classic, noble grey and blue.

The first floor is an all-kids area. Two big bedrooms are divided and connected by a shared bathroom, which is hidden in the cabinets.
Besides the bathroom, these cabinets have a colourful surprise when opened.
Strong contrasting colours give this floor a vibrant atmosphere. The staircase is widened and doubles as a playground.

On top is the master bedroom, where the staircase is functionally wrapped with bathroom elements, installations and a walk-in closet, making the most of the dormer heights. The bed is placed in a cabinet wall with hidden A/C unit. The free-standing bath makes this a luxurious retreat for the parents.
